Kris H. - Instructor
I started doing hot yoga about 7 years ago at Sumits. It was a love/hate relationship at first. I did it mostly for the physical benefit and went through the motions of the Sumits series. I did not attend classes consistently and it took a long time to grow in my practice. About two years ago I started attending classes more consistently and it has impacted my life for the better. I started developing a greater understanding of yoga and how it fits into my life. I had a desire to be a yoga teacher but didn’t think I could ever fit the teacher training into my schedule.
In 2021 a new teacher training was being developed that catered to people needing an alternate schedule for the training. I was ecstatic when I learned the new training would fit into my schedule and I committed to the program. The training was enlightening, and I learned an immense amount about yoga and myself. Being a yoga teacher gives me a connection to my fellow yogi’s and allows me to continue growing in my yoga journey. I will always be a student of the practice and I am grateful for what I have learned from the yoga teachers at Sumits.
My 8 to 4 job is very stressful, and it drains a great deal of my energy. Yoga allows me to recharge, release tension, and find peace in my life. Through my practice and teaching I have found a greater depth and understanding to this ancient practice. I am more mindful, purposeful, and peaceful in my everyday life. It is an amazing experience seeing myself and others at Sumits grow on and off the mat.
