JANUARY 2026

My yoga journey began in 2019, right after high school graduation, when a friend invited me to a class at Sumits in Chesterfield. Growing up, I was a competitive dancer and golfer, so I knew I had mobility and flexibility, but the heat added a whole new challenge. After that first class, I remember saying it was the hardest thing I had ever done, yet I couldn't wait to try again! We kept going weekly or bi-weekly, often bringing more friends along, and eventually I convinced my boyfriend, Louie, to join us too.

My practice paused when I left for college at the end of that summer, as I was off to attend Ole Miss. Unfortunately, I never found a studio there and resorted to strength and cardio training. After a few short, anxiety-driven months in Mississippi, I transferred to Mizzou to start 2020! I was thrilled to discover that there was a Sumits in Columbia because I needed an outlet for the anxiety I felt from adjusting to college life. Through undergrad and graduate school, I attended Sumits 1–2 times/week, and I have never looked back. Now, two years post-graduation, living and working full-time in Columbia, I am thrilled to be able to attend Sumits every day. Yoga has transformed me mentally and physically, making me stronger, happier, and more grounded. It's more than a workout—it's a lifestyle I cherish!
