After years of sports activities, gym workouts, running, biking, aerobics too, the accumulated physical punishment caught up with me. A full hip replacement in 2009. Therefore, no running and downhill skiing was recommended. What a great disappointment, since I was an avid skier, and to miss the incredible view from 9,000’ feet, overlooking Lake Tahoe or nearby slopes or looking up at a clear blue sky. I continued my long gym workouts, week in and week out. A few years later, my physician began suggesting hot yoga, as he experienced the benefits. Finally, after awaking one morning in March 2017, the increasing signs of arthritis, it was time!!! The same day, I arranged a personal lesson with Christa. I asked her to initiate me, in what to expect in class; the poses, technique, and the heat/ humidity. Immediately, I was hooked!! Christa: THAHK YOU!! Two classes the next two days. Seven classes the next two weeks. A physical challenge coinciding with a mental challenge I enjoy =) The demand to constantly focus, minute after minute, with sweat pouring down. What a relief it is, in letting one’s life’s challenges, wash away while inside the heated four walls. In every class I attend, ‘pushing my limits’ in technique and extension, in challenging yet fulfilling. I know it can be painful to complete a class. Yet, to feel the endorphins released and flowing through my body is uplifting and reflects in how I treat others. Sharing a class with fellow yogis of different experience levels is rewarding, while learning and challenging. I am stronger mentally. I am stronger physically. THANK YOU Bob and Jocelyn for creating a great environment and experience for Hot Yoga! THANK YOU to every instructor and staff member for your tips, patience and encouragement in this journey. THANK YOU to my fellow yogi’s, for sharing this experience with me!
