INSTRUCTOR

I began my yoga journey here at Sumits in 2013. Though it wasn’t love at first practice, it was like nothing I had ever done before. My curiosity kept me coming back for more. Within a year I was in love; practicing as often as I could make it to the studio, seeking out yoga everywhere life took me. By the end of 2014, along with my husband, Bob, and his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Fred, we purchased the Sumits Hot Yoga Columbia studio. By the end of 2015, I had completed my 200 hour teacher training at the Sumits Hot Yoga St. Louis studio with the same studio leaders and yogis I found love for the practice with in Columbia, Melissa Zeugin and Emily Montgomery and the creator of Sumits Yoga and our Master Teacher, Sumit Banerjee.

I enjoyed teaching, working, owning and giving back to the studio for a handful of years. I never would’ve believed it was possible, but teaching classes became a passion that rivaled mine for practice. I have learned so much from so many amazing teachers and students along the way. I believe my most important lesson so far has been that ‘your yoga is always with you.’ The strength and the truth in that lesson allowed me to step back without doubt from the business of yoga when other sides of life needed nurturing. My yoga has stayed with me. It has ebbed and flowed in many ways. It has been both intense and gentle, been physical in motivation as well as mostly mentally and emotionally rewarding. Everywhere I’ve been through the years, my yoga was always there. I know that my yoga is not a physical space, but despite that, I continually find myself back at Sumits. And no matter how much time passes, coming to Sumits feels like coming home. Thank you for welcoming me back home to share my yoga love with you all - the people and the place most special in my heart.
