Emily M. - Instructor

My Hot Yoga journey began at the Sumits studio in Springfield, Mo when I went with a friend in 2013. The heat, the sweat, and the poses had me hooked after my first class! I knew I wanted to make it a part of my life. I joined Sumits Hot Yoga in Columbia, Mo in 2014. While I knew there was more to yoga, my practice stayed consistent as a means of getting into shape.  As the years went by, I learned about the importance of yoga and eventually went through teaching training the Summer of 2016 with Sumit Banerjee.

In 2017, my son was born at home and the time I had spent on my mat before and during pregnancy gave me the space to trust my body and stay fully present during the 37 hour labor and delivery.  For me, there is something about hot yoga that continues to resonate within and I cherish the community I’ve found at the studio.  By spending more time on my mat, I’ve learned to pay attention to my body and breath. I truly feel more joy in life, peace of mind and greater self-acceptance. I’ve learned the importance of a daily yoga practice.

The time I’ve spent on my mat has given me a greater appreciation for my able body and a deeper understanding of my life. My most important lesson thus far is practicing kindness towards myself and all beings. I am grateful for the opportunity to share and give back what I’ve learned from all my years of practice. Whatever it is that brings you to your mat, keep the Faith and know that it is the right path for you. May Love and Light carry you through.
