I took my first class at Sumits about 3 years ago with some friends. Having always been interested in different ways to work out and stay in shape, the rewarding, sweaty workout is what initially got me hooked. I loved the heated aspect and how it allowed me to go deeper into each pose. I didn't realize it in the beginning, but this practice would change my life. In the past year-and-a-half, my practice has really deepened--shifting from a focus on physical asana to a more meditative and spiritual practice. The most meaningful lesson I've learned is the power of mindfulness and breath. This is a lesson equally relevant on and off the mat. Yoga has taught me that when life gets tough you must breathe through it. When things in my personal life get hard or stressful, I know I can count on this practice to keep me grounded and at peace. Sumits holds a special place in my heart because it is where I first began my practice; that room has come to be my happy place where I feel that I can be myself without any judgment. The staff and instructors are always so welcoming and supportive. I am so grateful for having found Sumits, and to continuously grow in this beautiful practice! Namaste.
