Cynthia C. - Instructor
I began my yoga journey in a hot studio five years ago in an effort to become more flexible and to assist my strength training efforts. The heat helped immensely and it was exciting to gain flexibility and get into poses I never thought were possible for my body! As my practice grew, I soon realized that there was much more to yoga than the physical practice; I enrolled in a yoga teacher training program to deepen my knowledge of yogic philosophy and the mind/body/spirit connection.
After completing my 200 teacher training program, I began a certification with Yogiños Yoga for Youth, which is a trilingual (Spanish, English and Sanskrit) children’s yoga program. The first class I taught was an eager group of elementary students. I love sharing mindfulness and movement with children and taught three sections of Kindergarten yoga for two years at a school in South St. Louis. As an educator and life-long learner, I am constantly looking for opportunities to gain knowledge about yoga and have taken trainings in Curvy Yoga, Yoga for All, pelvic floor yoga, trauma-informed yoga, Y12SR (Yoga for 12 Step Recovery) and was fortunate to travel to Uganda in May of 2017 to participate in a prenatal yoga training.
I look forward to continuing my yoga journey and sharing my passion for all aspects of yoga with the community at Sumits.
