I had been doing yoga off and on for years, mainly dvds at home that I purchased a lifetime ago as an undergrad. It wasn’t until much later during grad school that I really started practicing on a regular basis to maintain focus and help with stress levels. My yoga journey began at Sumits in January 2014 shortly after my diagnosis with Endometriosis. The
only relief I got from the pain of endometriosis was heat. I figured I could get a good workout in the
process of healing my body and escaping the pain for a bit.
My passion for the series grew from there as I healed my body. I found that overall my health improved
and as a runner, yoga helped me focus on controlling my breath.Read More
I began my yoga journey in a hot studio five years ago in an effort to become more flexible and to assist my strength training efforts. The heat helped immensely and it was exciting to gain flexibility and get into poses I never thought were possible for my body! As my practice grew, I soon realized that there was much more to yoga than the physical practice; I enrolled in a yoga teacher training program to deepen my knowledge of yogic philosophy and the mind/body/spirit connection.Read More

My favorite part of yoga is the meditation that comes with moving the body and slowing the breath (and of course inversions!). Aside from providing the absolute best therapy-- Sumits Yoga has also provided me with a second family and I can't express how truly grateful I am to have found them.Read More

After my first few classes, I felt very inflexible and weak. But my mindset after every class had me coming back. I was doing 5-6 classes a week, I was hooked!Read More
I walked into the women’s locker room at our studio the other day and caught a glimpse of a note I had written and hung on the community bulletin board when I was first a student.
